Caramel Apple Jell-O Shots

From: http://www.delish.com

What would a party be without the classic Jell-O Shot! Before you sarcastically answer sophisticated! We have the answer! Gone are the days of college Jell-O shots of odd flavors in plastic condiment cups. Today’s Jell-O shots are all grown up, with mature flavors, and served in interesting ways. Like in an apple!

These fall treats are a fun and unique take on both the classic caramel apple and the Jell-O Shot. Slice these and serve them to your guest. The amazement and wonder of what seems like impossible feat of mixology and culinary skill will make you the party king this holiday season. Plus they are delicious!

What You Need!

  • 4 Granny Smith apples
  • 1/3 c. lemon juice
  • 1 3/4 c. apple cider
  • 2 packets gelatin
  • 1/4 c. melted soft caramels
  • 1 c. Salted Caramel vodka

How to Make It!

  1. Carve the apples: Cut apples in half, down the stem. Pluck out the stem and use a melon baller to hollow out the center of each apple. Brush the insides of each apple with lemon juice, placing each apple hollow side-up in the cups of a muffin tin. Set aside.
  2. Make the caramel apple gelatin: Pour the cider into a saucepan. Sprinkle both packets of gelatin on top and let it sit for two minutes. You’ll notice a shimmery, ripply film on top of the cider from the gelatin. Once that happens, place the saucepan on a burner, turning it to low heat. Whisk the gelatin into the cider until dissolved, then whisk in the melted caramel. As soon as it’s combined, turn off the heat. Add vodka and stir it in.
  3. Pour the mixture into each hollowed-out apple. Refrigerate for at least four hours, or until firm.
  4. Place the apples gelatin-side down on a cutting board and cut into four wedges per apple half. Serve.

Candy Corn Shots

From: http://abeautifulmess.com

Ok I know what you are thinking! Candy Corn is only for Halloween! That is no longer true, and those little bags of candy corn have never been more popular as a fall treat! Nor you can enjoy the taset of a candy corn and get a buzz on at the same time! These layered treats are a sure hit at any fall themed party and the colors and layers are instantly recognizable! Try one and you will not believe the fun these Jell-O based shots Contain!

What You Need!

  • 1 small box orange-flavored Jell-O (3 oz)
  • 3 envelopes Knox unflavored gelatin
  • 7 oz. sweetened condensed milk (1/2 of a 14 oz. can)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup vanilla or cake vodka (add more if you like strong shots)
  • yellow food coloring

How to Make It!

This first step will make both your first and last layer, so once it’s mixed together, we will save half of this mixture for the end. Pour 1 cup of water into a small saucepan and pour 2 packets of the unflavored gelatin into the water. Warm the water and gelatin over a low heat, stirring occasionally, until all the gelatin has dissolved (about 5 minutes). Remove pan from the heat and add 1/2 your can of condensed milk to the mixture. Stir until the ingredients combine. Add 2/3 cup vanilla vodka. Cover and set aside half of your milk mixture (you’ll add food coloring to it and use it as your last layer later). Evenly distribute the first half of your mixture throughout your 20 shots (just don’t fill them more than 1/3 of the way full). Refrigerate your shots until firm (30-40 minutes).

When the first layer is firm, pour another 1 cup of water into your saucepan and add 1 packet of gelatin to make your middle layer. Warm the water until the gelatin dissolves, remove from heat, and stir in the box of orange Jell-O until that dissolves as well. Add 1/3 cup vanilla vodka. Evenly distribute orange layer on top of white layer and refrigerate until chilled.

When your orange layer is solid, retrieve the second half of your milk mixture that you set aside in the first step and add in a few drops of yellow food coloring. If the mixture has already started to set, put it in the microwave until warm and still until the lumps dissolve. Distribute your yellow layer on top of the orange and put it back into the fridge until set.
